The First World Congress on Mercy will take place
in Rome this April [2nd – 6th 2008].
• To give many of our members the opportunity
to attend this Congress in Rome, may I suggest to
your Eminences, Excellencies that you request your
National Episcopal Conference/Secretariat to organize
“Divine Mercy Pilgrimage to Rome” 1st
- 12th April 2008 as we have done in Nigeria. Date
of departure is 1st April from Lagos to Rome and
back on 12th April 2008. If you wish to join the
Nigerian Group, please contact: Director, Pastoral
Affairs: Rev. Fr. Louis Odudu [paffairs@cbcn.org]
and register with the “Divine Mercy Pilgrimage
to Rome, April 2008. The cost is €2,600.oo
only.
• Appoint a priest Chaplain to the Divine
Mercy Devotees in your Arch/Diocese and a Rev. Sister
as Spiritual Guide to the Divine Mercy Devotees
in your Arch/Diocese.
• Assist/sponsor your Divine Mercy Chaplain

Dear Coordinators, dear Friends,
Less
than four months before the Congress!... You are
the persons preparing it. As you know, the challenge
is great. It is the first World Congress. On this
will depend the future Continental, National and
Diocesan Congresses, hoping then for another World
Congress. May the Merciful lord guide us and fulfil
his desires through our pour but real endeavours!...
Some
news: The Executive International Committee met
on the 24th of September in Rome with Cardinal Schönborn
at the Laterano Palace. Msgr. Parmeggiani, General
Secretary of the Diocese of Rome was with us. He
is the coordinator for the pastoral activities in
the afternoons in Rome. It was a good opportunity
for the people to meet eachother and to listen to
the main orientations of the Congress given us by
Cardinal Schönborn. Please look at the news
on the website.
The
Committee of Patronage met also in Rome on the 22nd
of November within the Vatican. It represents 17
Cardinals. They approved the programme. We finally
have the priviledge of using Aula Paolo VI, for
7000 persons, within the Vatican.
Here, as a first attached file, you have the general
programme; as a second one, you have the schedule
of the afternoons to be built in agreement with
your Continental Coordinator. Each of them is in
connection with the roman Coordinator for idiomatic
squares and churches.
For
the moment, we deal with seven churches for each
language (english, italian, french, spanish, portuguese,
polish and lithuanian) Depending on a consistant
number of participants, the various national and
continental committes could request more churches
per languagge. The Diocese of Rome needs to see
the registrations on the database of the website.
For the moment, they are not enough for more places.
So we need to know how many you will be coming from
your respective countries, more or less.
About
the participation of the Holy Father: sure he will
give his catechesis on wednesday morning; most probably
he himself will preside the Holy Mass in the afternoon
for the third anniversary of John Paul II’s,
the Divine Mercy Pope. For Mass on Sunday the 6th,
we expect a last pronouncement of the Secretary
of State. At least, the Holy Father will conclude
the Congress with the Regina Coeli. As you know,
on the next week, he will have an important mission
to the USA and
the United Nations.
As
national and continental Coordinators, take in account
that, on sunday afternoon we will have an important
meeting with the Cardinals, presided by Cardinal
Schönborn. At this very moment, we will start
preparing the next local congresses. In the next
future, you will receive further informations about
this meeting.
The
World Congress is clearly oriented in a missionary
way. However, between the World Congress and the
continental ones in Year 2008, there will be one
Symposium of theologians and scholars, probably
in Italy, so to reflect on the the World Congress
and find the best way to develop it in the whole
life of the Church and of the world.
Some report about the present activities of some
of us:
Fr Matthew Mauriello, north american Coordinator,
appointed by the US Bishops, has been speaking at
EWTN fr Groeschl’s show with Bishop Lori last
week. Before that he had an important mission to
several meetings in California, in spite of a recent
operation. We thank very much the Marian Fathers
of Stockbrige for their important help to the Congress.
Brendan
Gleeson is managing the financial aspect for the
Congress. We wish him all the best. Cardinal Schönborn
opened an account for donations at the Vatican Bank
IOR, so that the money collected for the Congress
may belong directly to the Church and serve for
the future congresses, in case there was more money
(or enough!)... Finances and accounts are directly
under the control of the Diocese of Rome. Sincerely
speaking, we need more donations and more registration
fees. May you help to urge the pilgrims to registrate
as soon as possible.
The
Visconti Team is working much and very good for
the logistics. For any practical aspect, you can
call or email them. Fr Joseph Bart of the Roman
Shrine of Divine Mercy is working with so much zeal
to find out special lodgings for pour people.The
asian and oceanian Committee is widening its action,
under Msgr. Ramirez’ guidance: new committees
have been founded in India (Bishop D’Souza,
Bishop of Jhansi, as Coordinator) and Corea, as
well as in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. The
southern american Committee will meet again in Asuncion
(Paraguay) next week. They will try to see how to
help the pourest representatives to go to Rome.
Brasil has now an effective committee, with fr Marcial
Maçaneiro, directly appointed by the bishops’
conference; he was and is responsible for the CEB
interreligious and ecumenical section. Mexico had
a huge meeting in october with 7000 people, thanks
to our dear fr Eugenio Lira and Bishop Huesca. Many
of them (Asia, South America) are sacrificing much
to prepare the Congress. Ither important movements
in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela...
An important Committee is being founded in Africa,
with Bishop
Martin (Minna, Nigeria) and the SCEAM. In Europe,
Belgium has got an official committee under the
guidance of the Archbishop of Namur. We observe
also an important commitment of Cardinals Backis
of Vilnius and Canizares of Toledo (Spain). The
italian bishops’ conference appointed Bishop
Cancian as coordinator; he is a theologian. Fr Philippe
Blanc is organizing now the Committee for Middle
East: some Bishops and Patriarchs of Eastern Catholic
Churches are giving their assent to the Congress
and appointing official delegates. Poland is preparing
its participation to the Congress thanks to Cardinal
Dziwisz. The Nuns of Cracow will have to prepare
the prayers for the Congress in the Vatican. General
Coordinator, fr Patrice Chocholski, is today in
Taiwan, before leaving to Corea.
In this last time of preparation, may everybody
contact the continental coordinators to get to know
how his country will participate (songs, talks,
mission, procession, liturgy, festival, flag, picture...);
may all Coordinators invite the people to register,
through all possible medias; may they find economic
help for the pours who really are doing a lot for
the Divine Mercy. No restriction for the number
of the participants.
And specially, let us pray and invite to pray for
this event. We are in Advent time. We are waiting
for Him to come in his fullness. May he realize
his plans of Mercy (see Rm 9-11)

que cuatro meses antes del Congreso!... Vosotros
sois las personas que lo preparan. Como sabéis,
el desafío es grande. Es el primero Congreso
Mundial de la Misericordia. De éste dependerán
los futuros Congresos Continentales, Nacionales
y Diocesanos, esperando luego en otro Congreso Mundial.
¡El Dios Misericordioso pueda conducirnos
y cumplir sus deseos atraves de nuestros esfuerzos,
aunque limitados!...
Algunas noticias: El Comité Internacional
Ejecutivo se ha encontrado el 24 de septiembre a
Roma con Cardenal Schönborn en el Palacio del
Laterano. Mons. Parmeggiani, Secretario General
de la Diócesis de Roma estuvo con nosotros.
Él es el coordinador por las actividades
pastorales de las tardes a Roma y por las celebraciones
en Aula Pablo VI. Fu una buena oportunidad para
encontrar los demás implicados y escuchar
las orientaciones principales del Congreso dadas
por el Cardenal Schönborn. Podéis ir
a ver regularmente a las noticias sobre el sito
internet.
El Comité de Presidencia se ha encontrado
a Roma el 22 de noviembre en Vaticano. Representa
a 17 Cardenales. Ellos han aprobado el programa.
También tenemos el privilejio de usar la
aula Paolo VI, por 7000 personas, dentro del Vaticano.
Aquí, en un primer alegado, encuentra el
programa general; en un según, tenéis
el programa con los horarios de las tardes. Està
todavía qué construir con vuestro
coordinador lingüístico o continental:
Cada uno de ellos está en enlace con el Coordinador
de Roma por cuánto concierne las plazas idiomáticas
y iglesias correspondientes.
Por el momento, pensamos en siete iglesias por cada
lengua (inglesa, italiano, francés, español,
portuguese, polaco y lituano). Otras disponibilidades
dependerán del número de participantes,
si es consistente. La Diócesis de Roma se
fija en las grabaciones sobre la base de datos del
sito web.
Sobre la participación del San Padre: él
dará indudablemente la catequesis en la mañana
de miércoles; muy probablemente él
presidirá la Santa Misa en la tarde por el
tercer aniversario de la muerte de Juan Pablo II,
el Papa de la Divina Misericordia. Por la Misa de
domingo 6, esperamos una última confirmación
de la Secretaría de Estado. Al menos, el
San Padre concluirá el Congreso con la Regina
Coeli. Como se sabe, la semana siguiente, él
tendrá una importante misión en los
Estados Unidos y a las Naciones Unidas.
Cómo Coordinadores nacionales y continentales,
tengan ustedes en cuenta que, en la tarde del domingo,
tendremos una importante reunión con los
Cardenales, presidida por el Cardenal Schönborn.
A este momento, empezaremos a preparar los próximos
congresos locales. En el próximo futuro,
recibiran màs informaciones sobre esta reunión.
El Congreso Mundial està orientado claramente
en un modo misionero. En todo caso, entre el Congreso
Mundial y aquel continental en el año 2008,
será un Symposium de teólogos y estudiosos,
probablemente en Italia, para reflejar sobre el
Congreso y encontrar el modo mejor para desarrollarlo
en toda la vida de la Iglesia y el mundo.
Ahora algunas noticias sobre las actividades de
algunos de nosotros:
Don Matthew Mauriello, Coordinador de la América
del Norte, nombrado por los Obispos de los Estados
Unidos, ha hablado a la famosa TV católico
mundial EWTN con Mons. Lori, obispo de Bridgeport,
la semana pasada. Antes tuvo una importante misión
a muchas asambleas en California, a pesar de una
reciente intervención quirúrgica.
Igualmente, agradecemos muchísimo los Padres
Marianos de Stockbrige por su importante contribución
al Congreso.
Brendan Gleeson está administrando el aspecto
financiero del Congreso. Deseémosle mucha
perseverancia. El cardenal Schönborn ha abierto
una cuenta por donaciones al Banco del Vaticano,
IOR, así que el dinero pertenece directamente
a la Iglesia y puede servir para los congresos futuros,
o mejor: ¡si será bastante dinero!)...
la cuenta por los costes de inscripción está
directamente bajo el control de la Diócesis
de Roma. Hablando claro, necesitamos de más
donaciones y más inscripciones. Podáis
exhortar lo más pronto posible los pelegrinos
a iscriberse atravès del sito internet.
La agencia Visconti está trabajando mucho
y bien por la logística. Por los aspectos
prácticos, interpéladlas. Don Giuseppe
Bart del Santuario romano de la Divina Misericordia
está trabajando con mucho celo para descubrir
alojamientos especiales para personas pobres. El
Comité de Asia y Oceanía está
ampliando su acción, bajo la guía
de Mons. Ramirez: comités nuevos han sido
fundados en India, S. E. Mons. De Souza, Obispo
de Jhansi como Coordinador y en Corea (conferencia
episcopal), tal como en Indonesia, Malaysia y Singapur.
El Comité de América latina se encontrará
en Asuncion (Paraguay) la semana próxima.
Intentarán ver cómo ayudar a los representantes
más pobres a ir a Roma. El Brasil ahora tiene
un comité efectivo, con P. Marcial Maçaneiro,
nombrado directamente por la conferencia de los
obispos; él fue y es responsable para la
CEB de la sección ecuménica e interreligiosa.
México tuvo una gran asamblea de preparación
a octubre con 7000 personas, gracias al querido
P. Eugenio Lira con el Obispo de Puebla. Muchos
(Asia, América Latina) están haciendo
muchos sacrificios para prepararse al Congreso.
Otros importantes movimientos en Chile, Argentina,
Colombia,Venezuela...
Un importante Comité está fundando
en África, con el Obispo Martin,
de Minna, Nigeria y el SCEAM. En Europa, Bélgica
tiene un comité oficial bajo la guía
del arzobispo de Namur. También observamos
un empeño importante del Cardenal Backis
de Vilnius y Canizares de Toledo (España).
La conferencia de los obispos italianos nombró
S.E Mons. Cancian como coordinador; él es
un teólogo. P. Philippe Blanc está
organizando ahora el Comité por el Medio
Oriente: algunos Obispos y Patriarcas de Iglesias
católicos Orientales están dando su
consentimiento al Congreso y nombrando a delegados
oficiales. Polonia está preparando su participación
al Congreso, gracias al Cardenal Dziwisz. Las Monjas
de Cracovia serán encargados de una parte
de la animación litúrgica por el Congreso
en Vaticano. El Coordinador general, P. Patrice
Chocholski, está hoy en Taiwán, antes
de ir a Corea.
En este último período de preparación,
cada uno se ponga en contactos con el propio Coordinador
continental e/o lingüístico para saber
cómo su país participará (canciones,
workshops, misión, procesión, liturgia,
bandera...); todos los Coordinadores inviten las
personas a registrarse, atravès de los medios
de comunicación ; encuentren ayuda económica
para los pobres que hacen ya mucho para la Misericordia
Divina. Ninguna restricción por el número
de los participantes.
Y
rezamos, invitando a rezar por este acontecimiento.
Nos encontramos en período de Adviento. Estamos
esperando el Cristo para entrar en su plenitud.
Él pueda cumplir sus planes de la Misericordia.

di quattro mesi prima del Congresso!... Voi siete
le persone che lo preparano. Come sapete, la sfida
è grande. È il primo Congresso Mondiale
della Misericordia. Da questo dipenderà i
futuri congressi Continentali, Nazionali e Diocesano,
sperando poi in un altro Congresso Mondiale. Il
Signore Misericordioso possa guidarci e adempiere
i suoi desideri attraverso i nostri sforzi, quantunque
limitati!...
Qualche notizia: Il Comitato Internazionale Esecutivo
si è incontrato il 24 settembre a Roma con
Schönborn Cardinale nel Palazzo del Laterano.
Mons. Parmeggiani, Segretario Generale della Diocesi
di Roma era con noi. Egli è il coordinatore
per le attività pastorali dei pomeriggi a
Roman e per le celebrazioni in Aula Paolo VI. Era
una buona opportunità per incontrare gli
altri coinvolti ed ascoltare gli orientamenti principali
del Congresso dati dal Cardinale Schönborn.
Potete dar un’occhiata regolarmente alle notizie
sul sito internet.
Il Comitato di Patronaggio si è incontrato

La Diocesi di Roma guarda alle registrazioni sul

Sulla partecipazione del Santo Padre: egli darà
farà sicuramente la catechesi nella mattina
di mercoledì; molto probabilmente egli presiederà
la Santa Messa del pomeriggio per il terzo anniversario
della morte di Giovanni Paolo II, il Papa della
Divina Misericordia. Per la Messa di domenica 6,
aspettiamo un'ultima conferma della Segreteria di
Stato. Almeno, il Santo Padre concluderà
il Congresso col Regina Coeli. Come si sa, la settimana
seguente, egli avrà un'importante missione
negli Stati Uniti e alle Nazioni Unite.
Come Coordinatori nazionali e continentali, tenete
conto che, in pomeriggio di domenica, avremo un'importante
riunione con i Cardinali, presieduto dal Cardinale
Schönborn. A questo momento,
cominceremo a preparare i prossimi congressi locali.
Nel prossimo futuro, ricevereteiulteriore informazioni
su questa riunione.
Il Congresso Mondiale è chiaramente orientato
in un modo di missionario. Comunque, tra il Congresso
Mondiale e quello continentale nell’anno 2008,
ci sarà un Simposio di teologi e studiosi,
probabilmente in Italia, così da riflettere
sul Congresso e trovare il modo migliore per svilupparlo
in tutta la vita della Chiesa e del mondo.

se ne rimango (o meglio : se ce ne saranno abbastanza!)...
il conto per i costi di iscrizione è direttamente
sotto il controllo della Diocesi di Roma. Parlando
chiaro, abbiamo bisogno di più donazioni
e più iscrizioni. Possiate esortare al più
presto i pellegrini a registrarsi on line.
L’Agenzia Visconti sta lavorando molto e bene
per la logistica. Per gli aspetti pratici, interpellate
loro. Don Giuseppe Bart del Santuario romano della
Misericordia Divina sta lavorando con molto zelo
per scoprire alloggi speciali per persone povere.
Il Comitato di Asia e Oceania sta allargando la
sua azione, sotto la guida di Mons. Ramirez: comitati
nuovi sono stati fondati in India (S. E. Mons. D'Souza,
Vescovile di Jhansi, come Coordinatore) e Corea

sta fondando in Africa, con il Vescovo Martin
(Minna, Nigeria) ed il SCEAM. In Europa, il Belgio
ha un comitato ufficiale sotto la guida dell'Arcivescovo
di Namur. Osserviamo anche un impegno importante
del Cardinale Backis di Vilnius e Canizares di Toledo
(Spagna). La conferenza dei vescovi italiani nominò
S.E Mons. Cancian come coordinatore; egli è
un teologo. P. Philippe Blanc ora sta organizzando
il Comitato per il Medio Oriente: alcuni Vescovi

dando il loro assenso al Congresso e nominando delegati
ufficiali. La Polonia sta preparando la sua partecipazione
al Congresso, grazie al Cardinale Dziwisz . Le Suore
di Cracovia saranno incaricate di una parte dell'animazione
liturgica per il Congresso in Vaticano. Il Coordinatore
generale, P. Patrice Chocholski, è oggi in
Taiwan, prima di andare via in Corea.
In questo ultimo periodo di preparazione, ognuno
contatti il proprio Coordinatore continentale e/o
linguistico per sapere come il suo paese parteciperà
(canzoni, workshops, missione, processione, liturgia,
bandiera...); tutti i Coordinatori possano invitare
le persone a registrare, attraverso ogni media possibile
; trovino aiuto economico per i poveri che già
fanno molto per la Misericordia Divina. Nessuna
restrizione per il numero dei partecipanti.
E preghiamo, invitando a pregare per questo evento.
Ci troviamo in periodo di Avvento. Stiamo aspettando
il Cristo per entrare nella sua pienezza. Lui possa
compiere i suoi piani della Misericordia. (cfr.
